Roasted sweet potatoes in coconut oil
+ Roast chicken
+ Fermented beetroot and red cabbage
+ Rocket and feta with a drizzle of olive oil.

Balanced plate of veggies, carbs, protein and fats.

BETA-GLUCAN 🥣

My favourite mornings are spent making porridge whilst drinking tea and relaxing in my PJs… Porridge is always made better with a dash of honey and berries 🍯🫐

Oats are incredibly nutritious but my favourite is that they contain high amounts of a soluble fibre called beta-glucan -> which has shown to help reduce cholesterol + blood sugar levels, promote healthy gut bacteria and increase feelings of fullness.

•Beta-glucan may increase the excretion of cholesterol rich bile, which reduces circulating LDL cholesterol (the bad type).

•Beta-Glucan may help reduce blood sugar levels due to its ability to form a thick gel in the stomach that delays the emptying of the stomachs contents, therefore preventing the absorption of glucose. Additionally by delaying the stomach from emptying, this increases the feeling of fullness for longer.

•Studies show that Beta-glucan may promote peptide YY - a hormone produced in the gut which is a satiety hormone (sense of feeling satisfied) which could lead to reduced calorie intake - win win!

BONE BROTH…What’s all the fuss about?

Bones are particularly rich in collagen, during the boiling process collagen in the connective tissue is broken down into Glycine which contains important amino acids such Glutamine and Gelatine along with various vitamins and minerals. These all help to strengthen and build bones, support joint health, aid digestion and help repair the stomach intestinal lining whilst reducing inflammation, BUT for me the best benefit is.... It full of COLLAGEN 👶🏻 for good skin health and anti aging!

Its very simple and easy to make whilst being virtually inexpensive. Cooking the bones low and slow releases all the goodness with the help of a splash of apple cider vinegar, my favourite is @bragg

You can have as a warming drink, cook your rice in, add to meals and sauces as stock or my personal favourite is to make a pho noodle soup 🍜 yummy.

Try and get your bones from your local butchers or farmers market – they normally give them to you for free. I prefer chicken to beef bones as I think it tastes better but what ever you prefer OR if you have cooked a whole chicken, use the left overs carcass – ideally needs to be organic to avoid consuming all the nasty chemicals, toxins and feed the animals have been exposed too.
